British Airways is set to relaunch its service to Cancun in the Mexican Caribbean, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The announcement comes after the United Kingdom removed a number of countries from its “red list.”
British Airways will be operating daily nonstop flights to Cancun beginning Oct. 22, according to a statement from the carrier.
The flights will be running between London Gatwick and Cancun International Airport.
British Airways is also relaunching flights to Mexico City on Nov. 6, with five flights each week.
“It finally feels like we are seeing light at the end of a very long tunnel. Britain will benefit from this significant reduction in red list countries, and now it’s time to turn our attention to eradicating testing for fully vaccinated travelers to ensure we don’t lose our place on the global stage,” said Sean Doyle, Chairman and CEO of British Airways.
Indeed, British Airways says it plans to operate its biggest schedule since March 2020.
